The 2020-2021 winter season will, just like the previous one, be very special. For example, only Andorra and Switzerland are currently operational due to Covid19. The other (European) countries will keep their ski areas more or less closed until mid-December.
Either wait, end of December, or no – 7 January..uh? Confusing isn't it? 🙂
If you would like to ski or snowboard before the crowds arrive, we advise you to go to Switzerland. Due to the slightly higher prices, it is relatively quiet there, but this can quickly change if they are really the only open region.
On the ski slopes in Switzerland, the rules apply that you must always wear a face mask or buff and that you must stay at least 1.5 meters from other people. This also means that you have to wait a little longer at the gondolas, because they may not be full. This is actively monitored.
!Tip! The Swiss Franc is slightly worse against the Euro, so you can still benefit from it. View the current one course.
The snow condition is also important to keep an eye on. Quite a bit of snow has fallen in recent weeks. That attracts many off-piste snowboarders and skiers. Unfortunately, in addition to a fairytale view, this also means an increased risk of avalanches. So check the weather reports and updates from the ski slope every day before you go off-piste with your skis or snowboard.
Of course, the weather also has an impact on the wax you need to apply to your skis or snowboard. During our visit last week to Celerina – St. Moritz the thermometer gave temperatures of -16°c -10°c. So apply cold temperature wax, from Gallium or Maplus, when waxing your ski and snowboard.
Have your maintenance done according to good habit ski or snowboard, do it at Wax&Board, let us know which area you are going to and we will check it for you.
Be careful during your winter trip, and stay healthy!
